History

The Kerala Pigeon Society was formed on the 23rd of May 2004 in Kochi. The different pigeon breeders based in Kochi felt the need to have a dedicated society to coordinate the various activities of the breeders in Kerala. The idea was put forward by Biju Raj of Alwaye who was the founder Secretary. A senior pigeon breeder, Jacob John was elected as the founder Pesident. The inaugural meeting was attended by 13 founder members and the organization has now grown around to 150 members under the able leadership of current President Dr Benjamin D'souza and the Secretary Liju Pallan who have been ably supported the current Treasurer Vijayan and the erstwhile Treasurer Liju Alex

Regular monthly exhibition cum sales are held every second Sunday between 14:00 and 18:00 at the registered office on I.S. Press Road, Kochi - 18. The Society has been able to generate awareness on the quality of birds and establish a fair price system for buying and selling different breeds of pigeons which has become a steady source of income for many of the members of the Kerala Pigeon Society.
